N.C. Mountain State Fair will kick off in one week - Sept. 10-19

Fairgoers of all ages will be fascinated by the Agricadabra Presents the Science of Ag magic show. There also will be a human cannonball, chainsaw artist, and local singer Leon Jacobs will perform several times a day.
There are plenty of special attractions as well. The Dixie Starlight Express returns to the fair once again to perform their beautiful flag pageantry on horseback. Set to music, the show is an elegant display of grace and skill. The group will perform a special tribute on Sept. 11 to honor America’s military service men and women, as well as remember those who were lost that tragic day in 2001. The show will feature local law enforcement, firefighters and emergency service personnel. See the website for daily show times.
There will be an Antique Tractor Pull on Saturday, Sept. 11, and a Lawn and Garden Tractor Pull on Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Open Corral. An FFA Truck and Tractor Driving competition will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

Admission tickets are discounted in advance, with a savings of $1 each on children, adult and senior tickets. Advance adult tickets are $6; child and senior tickets are $2. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Special pricing is available for groups of 30 or more. Ride tickets are 50 percent off in advance.
Advance tickets are available at area Ingles stores, the WNC Farmers Market or at the WNC Ag Center until Thursday, Sept. 9.

FLETCHER – The N.C. Mountain State Fair opens in a week with something for everyone to see and do.
There will be free entertainment throughout the fairgrounds. Two dog shows will entertain visitors.
The dogs from K-9s in Flight will be back with their high-flying antics, including dock diving, high jump and Frisbee stunts, all in a fun, high-energy atmosphere. There also will be a working border collie show that will demonstrate how the dogs are used on the farm to round up and control livestock.
Animals are the star attraction on the race track. Pigs, goats and ducks will be racing around the track at the Hogway Speedway. Animals are also the main attraction in the Farm Adventure Exhibit, where fairgoers can watch baby animals and participate in barnyard activities.
